Help For Panic Attacks

Implementing Help for Panic Attacks with the Right Tools

Anxiety disorders are no fun for those who have the disorder because they have panic attack episodes when they least expect them. Family members also suffer because they feel frustrated at not knowing what to do to make the person better. The good news is there is help for panic attacks and they are simple and straightforward. All one needs to do is to put into practice three steps.

The first step is to breathe. Sounds simple enough, but the fact is most people do not breathe correctly. Instead their breathing sounds shallow. So there is an exercise which really helps in calming and relaxing the mind and body and is a great help for panic attacks. First, inhale deeply and slowly through the nose while simultaneously thrusting the stomach forward. Then, exhale through the mouth while pulling the stomach inward. This is great for strengthening the body's core too.

The second step for help with panic attacks is to exercise. Nothing strenous, just walking or stretching will do. Dancing to music on television is another form of exercise which helps release the endorphins in our brains to make us feel good. Exercise also lowers blood pressure as deep breathing does, and it firms the muscles of the body. Once the person gets used to exercise running or jogging can be included and aerobics if desired. For individuals who don't venture outdoors, performing exercise routines at home work just fine too.

The third step is implementing positive self talk to replace the habit of negative self talk as a help for panic attacks For example, instead of ordering themselves to escape by running away as fast as possible, and convince themselves they may be in real danger or death is imminent, the person can state aloud or to himself he realizes it is just a panic attack and not anything to worry about. Practicing these steps will become easier as time goes on and will give the individual the tools and armor to stave off those terrifying attacks. Eventually the feelings will come less and less and the person will finally be able to return to a more normal productive and enjoyable life.
