There is no secret, just effective safe tools which unleash the power to prevent panic attacks from escalating and even ending them permanently. Even in severe cases, where the individual is on antidepressants, breathing still rates as one of the best ways to teach the person to calm down and relax.

Exercise is another great trick to stop panic attacks and all that's needed are a daily mile long walk on the treadmill or even outdoors if the individual is up to it. Swimming is another, and of course aerobics are great for the heart. All of these increase the endorphins in the brain and that is a good thing. Positive self talk allows the individual to reverse the negative statements he has been repeating to himself. Learning to cope with each situation that preceded the attacks will allow a much quicker return to a normal life.

Breathing to calm the individual down has been mentioned as a great exercise to stop panic attacks instantly. It also lowers blood pressure. But it is important to remember that it must be performed correctly in order to be effective. First, inhale deeply and slowly in through the nostrils. Then release the air by exhaling through the mouth. Doing this 3 times each at different periods during the day will keep anxiety to a minimum and blood pressure at normal levels. Walking is an exercise almost anyone can do in the privacy of their own homes whether it be moving the legs and feet to music or using a treadmill. Another is aerobics which can be performed at home as well.

Positive self talk teaches the person to cope with each situation as it occurs and to stop panic attacks in their tracks. Using scenarios as practice really helps with curing the disorder. Short trips to the store, riding in the car, standing in line and even answering the phone are challenging yet great opportunities to learn the tools necessary for individuals with anxiety disorders finally getting back their lives.
